Anxiety

Symptoms

There are many symptoms of anxiety. Some include:

  • Tired, restless, irritable
  • Problems sleeping or eating.
  • Feeling as though your heart is beating stronger and/or faster.
  • Shortness of breath, difficulty breathing

Causes

There are many things that can cause someone to feel anxious. Some may be:

  • Social factors (e.g. our environment, feeling lonely, feeling under pressure, financial problems)
  • Negative life experiences or past trauma
  • Other physical or mental illnesses
  • Drugs and alcohol – some studies suggest that the use or overuse of substances can exacerbate our anxiety
